This thread is for discussing how to get a compassionate policy on boat arrivals to happen. This thread assumes that you support a compassionate policy for boat people (if you disagree you can discuss this here), and details of what should be in such a policy can be discussed here.
Can we get Labor to make big changes? Is so how? If not, is it good enough to just sit back and think 'I wish Labor would do better' or should we do better? My view is that on the whole we get what we vote for, and what we saw on Four Corners is the result of most voters voting Labor and Liberal. I can't see how someone can push Labor to change if they are going to vote for them no matter what. But I can see Labor rethinking if enough people changed their vote to those who support a compassionate policy such as the Greens.
