My view is that climate change is the biggest issue facing Australia and the world. So how does the ABC deal with this?
This thread is where I'll post the good and bad of everything I see on climate change and non-mentions when I think it should have been, from on ABC TV in Melbourne. I watch the 7pm news every night, and as this is via a PVR I can rewind and add quotes here. I also record 7:30 every night (but sometimes fast forward through interviews so I may miss some things).
This thread was started on Sunday 22 May, 2016 - with 6 weeks of the federal election campaign to go.
Sunday 22 May - 7pm TV News: A special on what those in the Victorian country want from government.
Kerrie Robson, Euroa Landcare, says "We didn't realise how bad, and how long and dry it was going to be ....". Finally a mention of climate change methinks.
ABC voice over (Helen Brown) "Keeping a check on the mental health of people who often work in isolation is now accepted as vitally important."
Ivan Lister, Honeysuckle Health "And I just thought to myself, look how fragile we are, just with the rain, and that's how it is though, it is about the rain".
ABC voice over "Governments can't control the weather, but they can provide programs to help.
So no mention of climate change from the "life on the land" report, and the only related issue is how state and federal government provide drought relief.
Monday 23 May: No mention on 7pm News,
